Why Mums Should Get Started With YouTube
If you're a new mum, or newly pregnant, or have kids who are growing a little faster than you'd like and you're thinking you'd like to capture some of your memories before it's too late, maybe you should think about YouTube.
It's coming up to 10 months since I started my channel and already we love looking back at our first videos and seeing how much Max has grown. I wrote this post a few months ago about why I make videos and put them on YouTube and my thoughts are still the same. It's seriously one of the best decisions I've made.
Since I wrote that post, I've begun taking YouTube a little more seriously and started experimenting with other kinds of videos besides the vlog style ones I had been doing. I've been doing sit down videos, meal planning, home renovations, mum style, participating in tag videos and I have a lot of others planned. I'm finding these to be a really enjoyable addition to my video schedule and I've even found a sense of community with other mums. So much so, we've started a little group called MumChoob - you can find us on Instagram here if you'd like to check it out and participate!
I can't recommend YouTube enough, especially if you are a stay at home mum or work only a few hours a week in your family business like I do. The reason I say that is because it keeps your mind active and you learn new skills like video editing, social media and design, along with maintaining or perfecting others like organisation, time management and communication. When it's time to go back to work, this could really be a benefit to you.
If you want to get started on your own YouTube journey, keep a look out on the blog in the coming weeks as I will be sharing a lot more about how to get started, including video topic ideas, growing your confidence in front of and behind the camera and keeping organised so you stick with it!
